1/5/1952Mian Tansen, a prominent figure of North Indian (Hindustani) classical music and famous singer of Akbar's court, died at Gwalior. Tansen is remembered for his epic Dhrupad compositions, creating several new ragas, as well as for writing two classic books on music Sri Ganesh Stotra and Sangita Sara.

10/24/1953Selection of the Dassault Ouragan fighter from France at this time reflected the decision to initiate diversification of supply sources. The first four of over 100 Ouragans, or 'Toofanis' as they were to become known in the IAF, reached Palam Airport from France and this type re-equipped Nos.8, 3 and 4 Squadrons in that order.
3/23/1942Second World War was turning against the British and they needed the help of the Indians. So Prime Minister Churhill sent a delegation under Sir Stafford Cripps (Cripps Mission) to hold talks with the Indian leaders on the future of the subcontient in UK, which could not take place because of the non-cooperation movement and they left after a fortnight. They submitted their report in April 1942 which was rejected by the Congress and Muslim League.
