4/26/1858Kunwar Singh, revolutionary of Indian mutiny and freedom fighter, passed away. He fought his last battle near Jagdishpur, Bihar on April 23, 1858 and defeated the Britishers but was deeply wounded. He also organised the national rebels.
7/10/1949Sunil Manohar Gavaskar, great Indian cricket player (opener, 10,122 Test runs), was born in Bombay. He has received Arjun Award (1975) and Padma Bhushan (1980).

At this time, it possessed six fighter squadrons of Spitfires, Vampires and Tempests, operating from Kanpur, Poona, Ambala and Palam, one B-24 bomber squadron, one C-47 Dakota transport squadron, one AOP flight, a communications squadron at Palam and a growing training organisation.
