First 'Round Table Conference' started in London. Only Muslim League party was present in the conference and there were no representative of Congress. 16 Indian Kings, 23 British representatives and other 56 Indians took part in this conference. The Muslim League consisted of Sir Agha Khan, Mohammed Ali Jauhar, Quaid-e-Azam, Sir Mohammed Shafi, Fazl-ul-Haq, Chaudhary Zafarullah and Ghulam Hussain.

10/9/2000 | The Reserve Bank of India issued bank notes in the denomination of Rs.1000 in the Mahatma Gandhi series bearing the leader's portrait in the watermark and signature of Dr. Bimal Jalan, Governor of the RBI. The length of the note is 177 mm and the width is 73 mm. The notes are printed in a combination of offset and intaglio processes. This is the first note with intaglio printing on it. |
3/14/1931 | First Indian talkie film 'Alam Ara' released at Majestic Cinema, Bombay. Directed by Ardeshir Irani, the film was 11,152 ft. long and was produced by Imperial Film Co., Bombay and beared censored No. 10043 on March 11. The most remarkable thing about this film was birth of sound in Indian films, it came with a bang and quickly displaced the silent movies and brought revolutionary changes in the whole set up of the industry. |
