Hello,I am an Assistant Professor at Western Washington University. I am currently conducting a study to explore the everyday lives of high-skilled immigrants and their families in Washington State. I am particularly interested in the experiences of high skilled immigrants in navigating the immigration system and work place policies.I am looking to interview individuals who are currently studying or working in the USA on a F-1, J-1, H-1B or L1 visa. I am also interested in interviewing individuals who are spouses of high-skilled immigrants and are in the USA on a F-2, H-4 or L-2 visa. The interview will be conducted at a time and place that is convenient for you.The interview will be about your experiences of your decision to migrate to the U.S., being an immigrant here, and in particular the ways it has affected your work life/career. The purpose of the research is to understand the skilled immigrant experience in Washington State. The interview will be informal, talkative and interesting. You will not be asked to share anything that makes you feel uncomfortable and you can stop your participation at any point.This interview will last about one hour and you will receive $20. I will record the interview, but only with your permission and with the purpose to remember what you said. The tapes will be stored on a password-protected computer so that no one will know your answers.I plan to develop and present recommendations to help, support and advocate for skilled immigrants in both practice and policy. However, I will not identify who you are and anybody you mention. Your name and other names will be changed to protect their identities. Your identity will remain confidential.This study will add to the existing knowledge about high skilled immigration in the USA, using Washington State as a case study If you are interested in being part of this study or have any questions with regard to the study please contact me.
