11/21/1961Communist China announced a cease-fire in its border war with India and said it would withdraw its troops 12 miles behind the boundary lines that existed in 1959. China said it was making the move to end the hostilities and to implement proposals it had made in October to settle the border dispute. The mixed economy policy was taken on a five-year plan basis for economic development. On 26th January 1950, India became a democratic and is the biggest democracy of the world today. In 1956, on the basis of languages, India was divided into 14 states and 6 union territories. Today, there are 27 states and 7 union territories.
