Historical Event on 8/6/1920
Film Censor Board at Bombay started working. The first film censored and granted a Censor Certificate No. 1 was a short film of 600 ft., produced by Gaumont Company and it was titled as 'Gaumont Graphic No. 963-964'. The Regional Film Censor Boards were also set-up in Calcutta, Madras and Rangoon.

4/18/1858	Bharatratna Dhondo Keshav Karve, great educationalist and social reformer, was born.
7/10/1992	SROSS-C placed in orbit. Indian National Satellite (INSAT-2A), first indigenously-built satellite of second-generation INSAT series launched from Kourore. This is more operational multi-purpose communication and enhanced meteorology satellite. It is still in service.
12/21/1929	Indian National Congress convenes in Lahore.
12/19/1988	Umashankar Joshi, Gyanpeeth awardee and Gujrathi poet, died.
10/2/1993	Prime Minister's employment project started in urban areas.
3/10/1897	Savitri Bai Phule passed away. She played a prominent role in assisting her husband Mahatma Jyotirao Govindrao Phule in education field. She taught in schools for girls and for downtroddens and untouchables.
12/10/1993	The residence of Mahatma Phule was declared a national monument.
4/1/1882	Savings Bank Postal system was introduced.
3/1/1905	Karmaveer Bhausaheb Hire was born.
1/21/1922	Juda Reuben, cricket Test umpire for 10 tests from 1969-77, was born in Mumbai.
